Berkeley’s July 7 agenda is centered on budget and infrastructure decisions, including final adoption of the city’s FY 2027 spending plan, a new five-year street rehabilitation and Measure FF capital plan, and a proposed increase in ambulance and first responder fees. The council is also set to consider public safety and policing items such as continued funding for police dispatch software, federal crime-suppression grants, annual approval of police equipment, and a compendium of Berkeley Police agreements with other law enforcement agencies. Other major policy discussions include how Berkeley should regulate long-term large vehicle and RV parking in streets and sensitive areas, and whether to launch environmental review for a higher-buildout version of the Waterfront Specific Plan to keep future development options open. The consent calendar also includes updating studies that support development impact fees.
